What is a dental implant?
A dental implant is an artificial tooth root replacement used in prosthetic dentistry to support tooth restorations filling the gap or gaps in the mouth. There are several types of dental implants. The main types are divided into osseointegrated (bonds to the bone) implant and fibrointegrated (tightly fit to the bone) implant. Earlier implants, such as subperiosteal implant and the blade implant were usually fibrointegrated. The best solution is the Osseo integrated implant because it was discovered that the titanium can be successfully fused into the bone and implant.
Dental implants consist of a titanium screw (replacing the tooth root) with a surface that has been prepared to bond with the bone and a ceramic cap replacing the actual tooth. Many patience respond that the replacement tooth is so similar to the original tooth that it can be difficult to tell the difference. Nothing can replace a healthy tooth but a dental implant is the closest thing.
